About The Position

The Forklift Technician II will perform troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs on forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure operational standards are met. This role involves inspecting, rebuilding, and replacing major components, maintaining batteries and chargers, and overseeing outside service providers as needed. The technician will also maintain accurate preventive maintenance records and support the development of less experienced technicians.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Minimum 2 years of forklift maintenance experience or minimum 4 years of mechanic experience in auto, diesel, or truck/trailer maintenance.
  • Successful completion of assigned technical training and mechanical-electrical courses required.
  • HAZMAT training and certification required.
  • Basic computer skills for email, internet searches, and data entry required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a cold storage environment.
  • Specialized forklift maintenance or repair training for brands such as Crown or Raymond.
  • Technical certification or degree preferred.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnose down to the component level on material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance and repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Rebuild or replace major components such as masts, undercarriages, transmissions, and engines or motors.
  • Inspect forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to ensure compliance with OSHA and operational standards.
  • Maintain batteries and chargers in working order according to OSHA standards.
  • Test, maintain, and evaluate equipment performance using appropriate instruments.
  • Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records within the CMMS system and keep work area organized and clean.
  • Share knowledge and assist in training and development of less experienced technicians.
  • Other essential duties may be applicable and assigned as necessary.
