About The Position

Millwood Inc. is seeking a Forklift Operator to safely operate a forklift in support of production operations. The role involves documenting material movement into and out of the production area, stocking and unloading workstations, and ensuring dumpsters are emptied as needed. The operator will perform pre-operational checks on the forklift, adhere to safety standards and use personal protective equipment, and maintain forklift operation certifications. Responsibilities also include loading outbound trailers, documenting shipment details, placing pallets in designated inventory areas, and maintaining a smooth flow of materials from machines to the "work in process" area. The position requires ensuring quality standards are met, identifying and reporting quality issues to the supervisor, maintaining a clean tow motor, and documenting repair requests. The operator must also be able to recognize and deal with safety hazards, read a tape measure, and perform other related duties as assigned. A key aspect of the role is maintaining good housekeeping in the assigned area and supplying product to the staging area while interacting with the yard.   • Ability to operate forklift safely.

  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to learn computer system for entering shipments.
  • Ability to manage time to ensure material flow stays consistent within assigned production.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklift safely in support of production operations.
  • Stock and unload work stations.
  • Ensure dumpsters are emptied at the end of shift or as often as necessary.
  • Perform pre-operational check on forklift and processes appropriate documentation.
  • Follow safety standards of performance and maintain proper use of all personal protective equipment at all times of operation.
  • Produce adequate scoring on forklift operation certification.
  • Score adequately on annual operation re-certification.
  • Load outbound trailer for shipment, document trailer numbers, carrier, type of pallet, dock, and number of pallets being shipped as needed.
  • Place pallets into designated areas for inventory where there are no outbound loads.
  • Document material moved into and out of workstations.
  • Ensure quality standards are met.
  • Identify issues affecting quality and reporting all quality issues to supervisor.
  • Maintain a smooth flow of material from machines to "work in process" area.
  • Maintain a clean tow motor.
  • Document requests for repair to the Maintenance Department.
  • Park tow motor immediately if any safety issues occur.
  • Assist in maintaining good housekeeping in area of assignment.
  • Supply product and document the number of pallets or lumber run to the staging area.
  • Interact with yard in "work process" area and put proper material in staging area.
  • Maintain the ability to recognize, appreciate, and deal with safety hazards inherent in the work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
