About The Position

This is a temporary position for a Forklift Operator. The role involves operating a sit-down forklift to move materials within yards and warehouses, to and from production areas, and to the packaging area. Responsibilities include order preparation, verifying materials, counting, handling pallet tags and paperwork, packaging materials, and conducting quality control inspections of finished goods. The job requires maintaining forklift certification, performing daily self-inspections of the forklift, and understanding production lines, storage areas, products, and steel/coils.

Requirements

  • Forklift certification.
  • Learning/knowledge of production lines, storage areas, products, and steel/coils.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively speak to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Up to one year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to speak Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain forklift certification through continuous training and education.
  • Perform daily self-inspections of the forklift.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move materials from yards and warehouses to the packaging area.
  • Move materials and coils to and from the production area and lines.
  • Prepare orders, verifying material, counting, handling pallet tags & paperwork, and packaging material/orders.
  • Move coils and material, verifying they are properly marked and placed in the correct areas.
  • Conduct quality control inspections of finished goods before they are removed from the production line.
