About The Position

The Forklift Operator is primarily responsible for accurately and safely loading trucks and transporting glass throughout the facility. You will work in a cross-functional environment with our management team to meet daily shipping requirements and provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. The workplace environment includes frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and potentially sharp objects. The noise level can be high and will vary based on location in the plant. Requirements

  • At least two years of sit-down forklift experience is required.
  • Solid Work History.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively, ensuring all radio calls are answered.
  • Strong organization and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to read, write, and communicate in English.

  • Occasionally lift/carry up to 40lbs
  • Occasionally bend to floor/reach to 67 inches/climb 10 inches

Nice To Haves

  • Manufacturing or warehousing experience, preferred.
  • May be required to work overtime, different shifts, and perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines.
  • May be required to move racks and rejected glass indoor and outdoor.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately and safely load trucks and transport glass throughout the facility.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, safety practices, and guidelines.
  • Inspect racks for quality and verify the product is loaded accurately to meet or exceed Cardinal and customer expectations.
  • Safely operate powered equipment while transporting glass throughout the facility and loading and unloading products.
  • Ensure the driving zone is clear from debris or hazards by maintaining a clean work environment.
  • Operate manipulator to pack glass into wooden crates, if necessary.
  • Ensure all rejected glass is dumped into recycling bins.
  • Utilize handheld scanners when loading trailers to create bill of lading.
  • Communicate with IG department to stage racks required for production.
  • Utilize the wrap machine or occasionally shrink-wrap racks manually.
  • Seek out additional roles and responsibilities within your department.
  • Work in a team environment and communicate effectively, ensuring all radio calls are answered.
  • Perform additional tasks to meet company needs and deadlines.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by performing duties cleanly and safely.
