About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring all materials are transported and/or unloaded in a timely manner while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures. The role involves operating powered pallet jacks, forklifts, and reach trucks, inspecting and maintaining equipment, and delivering materials to production areas. Additionally, the position requires moving inventory in various storage areas, moving finished goods to shipping, unloading trucks, and ensuring production lines are supplied with necessary materials. The Forklift Operator will also record transactions in the SAP system, ensure correct labeling of goods, and maintain a clean and organized work environment according to 5S principles, GMP’s, and USDA regulations. The role may also involve serving as backup lead within the shipping area.

Requirements

  • Must have at least 3 months forklift experience within the last 12 months listed on the application (can be a combination of employers as long as the experience is at least 3 months).
  • Must be able to read, write and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Applicants must reside within the current recruitment area to include the following counties: Cumberland County, ME, York County, ME, Androscoggin County, ME.
  • Must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

  • Operates in a safe manner, and in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Uses a handheld computer to pick and scan product to outbound loads.
  • Communicates effectively with other TM’s and assists in coordinating to accomplish all assigned tasks.
  • Operates powered pallet jack, forklift and/or reach truck.
  • Inspects daily, charges batteries, maintains battery water level, and changes batteries as necessary.
  • Delivers raw materials, packaging, and pallets to the appropriate production areas.
  • Moves inventory in an organized manner to store in a subzero freezer, cooler, and a dry goods area.
  • Moves finished goods and work-in-progress from production lines to the shipping area.
  • Unloads trucks.
  • Covers and stretch-wraps pallets.
  • Ensures assigned production lines are continuously supplied with clean raw materials and packaging.
  • Assumes responsibilities for the Forklift Operator PR04 in case of their absence.
  • Records movement transactions in the SAP system.
  • Ensures all raw materials and finished goods are labeled correctly.
  • Maintain an organized and clean work environment according to 5S principles, GMP’s, and USDA regulations.
  • Reports any damages, discrepancies, unsafe behaviors, and risks to Lead.
  • May serve as backup lead within the shipping area.
