About The Position

Ryder is seeking a full-time, permanent Forklift Operator for their Milton, Ontario location. This role operates on a weekend night shift, Friday through Sunday, from 7 PM to 7 AM. The Material Handler I performs various warehouse functions including loading, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, forklift operation, and cycle counting. The position reports to the Logistics Supervisor and is responsible for accurate picking, packing, auditing, tote induction, staging of products, and loading/unloading trucks. The role also involves handling daily paperwork and providing technical/maintenance support for the automated packing system. Candidates must have basic knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice requirements, if applicable, and may be subject to a Motor Vehicles Records check. The job requires strong communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, dependability, punctuality, and the ability to lift up to 35 lbs and stand for long periods.

Requirements

  • H.S. diploma/GED preferred
  • One (1) year or more related warehouse and/or powered industrial truck experience preferred
  • Valid Forklift Operator's License certified
  • Ability to lift and/or push/pull up to 35 lbs
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to work using health and safety methods
  • Must be available to work on a flexible schedule on the various work shifts
  • Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate must have basic level knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice requirements, if applicable to site.
  • Some locations may require a Motor Vehicles Records (MVR) check as a part of the background screening process to drive a company vehicle as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform warehouse functions, which may include loading, picking, packing, shipping, receiving, forklift operation, and cycle counting.
  • Perform duties within performance measurement guidelines of the contract.
  • Responsible for the accurate picking and packing, auditing, tote induction, staging of products and loading and unloading of trucks.
  • Responsible for dealing with day-to-day paperwork in a warehouse environment (i.e. picking sheets, returns, bills of lading, etc.).
  • Provide technical and maintenance support for different aspects related to the automated packing system during the core shift hour of production.
