About The Position

The Forklift Operator role involves transporting, loading, and unloading product for shipment. The position requires passing a written driving test and performing daily maintenance checks on forklifts. Adherence to all Plant Safety rules, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO, SQF, and FDA requirements is essential. This role also includes assisting other departments when an operator is needed and maintaining accurate inventory records.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires Forklift Operator Certificate (Landis Plastics internal training).
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
Frequently required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
Occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel or crouch.
Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 65 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception.

Responsibilities

Operate forklifts to load and unload shipments of product
Complete all necessary paperwork associated with the shipping and receiving of product
Assist in the maintaining of accurate inventory records by means of physical inventories and use of the “DC Links”
Assist other departments when an operator is needed
Perform daily maintenance checks on forklifts
Follow all Plant Safety rules
Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO, SQF and FDA requirements
