About The Position

The Forklift Operator operates a forklift to assist with unloading customers and loading trailers for transport of scrap materials. The role inspects and grades incoming material and transports bulk material to and from storage or processing areas. It also supports retail transactions, equipment upkeep, housekeeping, and the safety of customers and employees in and around the work area.

Requirements

3 to 5 years of experience operating a forklift.
In-depth understanding of material types and grades.
Understanding of retail operations, functions, and transactions.
Excellent customer service skills.
High school diploma or GED.
Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Must be able to comfortably wear a respirator.
Ability to read and comprehend instructions, procedures, correspondence, and memos.
Ability to speak and understand English.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities

Load and unload customers’ trucks and vehicles.
Process transactions for the retail operation.
Perform routine loader maintenance, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
Complete an inspection report before using equipment.
Perform and maintain general housekeeping.
Promote and maintain customer and employee safety in and around the work area.
Inspect incoming materials and grade them accordingly.
Transport bulk material to and from storage or processing areas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
