About The Position

Operates a forklift and other material handling equipment in the receipt, warehousing, and shipping of stock and supplies. This role involves moving, loading, unloading, transferring, stacking, and unstacking palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, materials, and supplies. The position requires performing various warehousing duties, including selecting stock for shipment or transfer, receiving merchandise, placing stock in storage locations, and maintaining warehouse organization. The operator may also be responsible for loading vans for overseas shipment and assisting with inventory. Work is performed under general supervision, with checks on progress and compliance with instructions.

Requirements

  • One year of experience performing warehousing related duties (receiving, storing, issuing, shipping, operation of manual material movement equipment, etc.).
  • One year of experience demonstrating the ability to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment in the receipt, warehousing, and shipping of stock and supplies.
  • Must receive Hazardous Material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire per Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Uses moderate physical effort while performing maneuvers involved in forklift operation.
  • Performs work on hard surfaces requiring standing, stooping, and bending in a tiring and uncomfortable position.
  • May lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of general experience, up to a High School Diploma or GED for one year of general experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operates forklift capable of lifting up to 10,000 pounds as high as 168 inches to move, load, unload, transfer, stack, or unstack palletized goods, boxes, crates, merchandise, materials, and supplies.
  • Selects stock for shipment or transfer, verifying information on shipping or transfer documents against stock tags or bin bags.
  • Receives merchandise, supplies, and equipment by unloading trucks, vans, or freight cars, and checks items against receiving documents, reporting discrepancies.
  • Places identified stock in appropriate temporary or permanent storage locations.
  • Warehouses palletized or bulk stock according to specified locations, restacks and straightens items, sorts out bad containers, and checks bays/bins for mixed stock or incorrect locations.
  • Assists in taking inventories by determining quantities on hand.
  • May operate forklift to load vans for shipment overseas, including checking, weighing, and arranging merchandise.
  • Performs warehousing duties under general supervision, with work checked for arrangement and compliance.
