About The Position

This position involves operating a forklift to move various sized units and products from different sources to the next staging area. The role requires maintaining accurate records for inventory accuracy and performing basic forklift equipment maintenance. The operator must adhere to production schedules, company policies, and safety procedures, including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). The job may involve working in multiple areas of the plant on varied projects and customer orders, and requires a strong attention to detail to prevent poor quality from reaching the customer. Overtime and work on holidays may be necessary due to the company's 24/7/365 customer service commitment.

Requirements

  • Previous Pratt and/or 1 year of forklift operation preferred.
  • Experience with “scanner” or “barcode” warehouse management inventory systems preferred.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Positive interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to problem solve.
  • Ability to read and understand a tape measure.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience driving and operating a forklift.
  • Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy.
  • High degree of attention and control for prevention of damage to materials and equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Working knowledge of product layouts and production specifications.
  • Working knowledge of product quality specifications.
  • Working knowledge of quality standards.
  • Will be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

  • Candidates are PREFERRED who offer experience in the packaging, plastics, paper, converting, warehouse, manufacturing industry.

Responsibilities

  • Work safely at all times, comply with safety rules and operating procedures, and hold co-workers accountable for safety.
  • Participate in the Plant Safety Committee.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs) at all times.
  • Learn and comply with Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies, preventing bad quality from leaving the facility.
  • Perform a variety of tasks in the assigned department, potentially working in multiple areas of the plant on varied projects and customer orders.
  • Perform general duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain housekeeping and cleaning of work areas, ensuring they are free of tripping hazards.
  • Move various sized units and/or products from various sources to the next staging area.
  • Maintain accurate records of unit locations for inventory accuracy.
  • Perform basic forklift equipment maintenance and general housekeeping duties.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and housekeeping.
  • Adhere to the production schedule.
  • Work overtime as necessary, sometimes on short notice, and potentially on holidays.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
