About The Position

Nortera Foods Inc. is seeking a motivated and energetic Forklift Operator to join their Shipping & Receiving team for a seasonal role. This position operates in a fast-paced environment handling perishable vegetable products. The Forklift Operator will be responsible for material handling, computer inventory management, and space optimization. The role reports to the Department Supervisor and offers the opportunity to work with an experienced team committed to continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 1-2 years forklift operation experience required
  • Valid forklift operator certification is mandatory, with practical and theory refreshers recertification required
  • Attention to detail for accurate order picking and inventory control
  • Spatial awareness for maneuvering in busy environments
  • Ability to lift, stand, and perform physical tasks (lifting up to 40lbs)
  • Appropriate work intensity level: Medium, but higher intensity during peak harvest periods
  • Effective communication and ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Must be able to meet minimum dexterity requirements: bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, crouching, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, etc.
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude, cooperation, and teamwork at all times
  • Must display a strong sense of urgency, be dependable, reliable and punctual
  • Willingness to cross-train in other departments
  • Ability to simultaneously manage a variety of work tasks and priorities
  • Willingness to work in outside hot/humid environment and/or inside freezers with appropriate PPE

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a forklift to pile and take down bulk product up to six pallets high
  • Safe loading and unloading of both dry and frozen freight
  • Enter data using a computer inventory management system
  • Use handhelds and truck mounted scanners to support pallet transfers
  • Perform daily forklift safety checks, including battery changing procedures and using proper PPE
  • Organize materials and supplies for shift start and properly stack/store leftover materials
  • Communicate tote needs and issues to supervisor and quality control
  • Provide coverage for other forklift drivers and move to various areas based on production needs
  • Accurately and properly label products, and properly fill out paperwork daily
  • Strictly adhere to all safety procedures while operating a forklift, including Lock Out/Tag Out and the use of PPE
  • Follow directions from shift Supervisor and/or Lead
  • Other duties as may be assigned
