Forklift Operator
About The Position
The Baillie Group's Sherburne, NY Rip Line is hiring a full-time Forklift Operator for a hardwood lumber manufacturing operation. The role involves operating a forklift in a warehouse and assisting with production and other work as needed. The operator identifies cart sort numbers and pulls boards into the correct carts, as well as locating, pulling, and organizing material loads for orders. The position requires working independently, efficiently, safely, and precisely, following plant safety and environmental guidelines, and being willing to work outdoors and overtime. The role requires the ability to lift 50 pounds and experience operating forklifts weighing 10,000 pounds or more. The anticipated pay range is $16.50–$18.50 per hour. A full plan of benefits is offered.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an equipment operator using a forklift weighing 10,000 pounds or more.
- Preferably at least one year of experience within the last two years.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work efficiently and safely while maintaining a high level of precision.
- Self-motivated and organized.
- Willingness to work outdoors.
- Willingness to work overtime.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience as a warehouse worker.
- High school degree (preferred but not required).
Responsibilities
- Operate a forklift in a warehouse setting.
- Complete other work as needed when not driving a forklift.
- Identify the sort numbers for assigned carts and pull boards into the correct carts according to board sort numbers.
- Assist in all areas of production.
- Follow plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Locate, pull, and organize material loads needed for orders.
