Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Forklift Operator based in Atlanta, GA. This role involves performing a combination of product handling and lift truck operating duties to stack, transport, and store work-in-process and finished goods. The Forklift Operator supplies production lines with an efficient flow of materials, such as knockdowns and dividers, and moves finished goods to the warehouse. Accurate completion of line driver reports is essential, detailing locations and quantities of raw materials used and finished goods stored. The position also includes assisting production line employees by relieving them during breaks and lunchtime periods. The Forklift Operator is expected to follow all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures, and recognized practices. This includes performing safety lift truck inspections, battery checks, and reporting any equipment malfunctions or damage to the Warehouse Manager or Shift Supervisor. Battery maintenance, record-keeping, and filling out lift truck status reports are also key duties. Participation in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities is expected. The role requires reviewing the daily production schedule with the Shift Supervisor, bringing necessary materials to production lines, and notifying the supervisor of low material levels. Removing finished goods from production lines and transporting them to assigned warehouse locations, providing accurate information on materials, and removing/storing production scrap bales are also primary responsibilities. Maintaining accurate records of materials used and produced, reporting them appropriately, and removing finished goods and other materials on hold to their assigned locations are crucial. The Forklift Operator will store finished goods neatly and at proper heights, ensuring all removed finished goods have a product code tag. Participation in physical inventory taking is required. The role involves keeping each production line supplied with necessary items like knock down cases, dividers, and pallets, and transporting full pallets to the warehouse for loading. On limited production, assisting with stock-handler duties or loading trailers may be necessary. Specific tasks include bringing hot glue cases to the mezzanine, bringing color concentrate to lines, replacing cold glue totes, removing excess cases, bringing slip sheets, loading storage racks, setting up rework, setting up product units on hold for Q.C., relieving stock handlers, loading/unloading corrugated trailers, and identifying and isolating good corrugated from bad. Following established forklift procedures, completing safety and maintenance checklists, and adhering to procedures for damaged goods are mandatory. Communication with supervisors regarding shift and machine totals, and with other operators regarding changes or problems, is essential. Completing written documentation and assisting in relieving downstream teammates are also part of the role. The Forklift Operator will use the forklift to move pallets of finished product to stretch wrap machines and staging areas, or to specified warehouse locations, and complete finished goods reports. Maintaining supplies of corrugated and other packaging supplies at each machine and visually inspecting completed pallets for quality and conformity are also required. Limited travel may be required.
