About The Position

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Forklift Operator to join our cold storage warehouse team. This role is responsible for safely operating forklift equipment to move, load, unload, and store products in a temperature-controlled environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to safety, accuracy, and the ability to work efficiently in cold conditions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to pass employer-provided forklift training
  • Previous warehouse or cold storage experience preferred
  • Knowledge of safe forklift operation, load handling, and warehouse procedures
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (standing, bending, lifting)
  • Willingness to work in cold temperatures for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Spatial awareness and precision in maneuvering equipment
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking systems
  • Ability to stand, walk, and operate machinery for extended periods
  • Lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials
  • Ability to work safely in extreme cold conditions

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment to move products within the warehouse
  • Load and unload trucks, containers, and storage racks safely and efficiently
  • Transport materials to designated storage, staging, or shipping areas
  • Stack, organize, and properly store products to maximize space and maintain inventory accuracy
  • Perform routine pre-shift equipment inspections to ensure safe operation
  • Verify, scan, and track inventory using warehouse management systems or RF scanners
  • Ensure loads are secure, balanced, and within weight limits before transport
  • Follow all OSHA safety regulations and company policies
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse aisles and work areas
  • Report equipment malfunctions, damaged products, or safety concerns to supervisors
  • Assist with general warehouse duties such as picking, packing, and staging orders
  • Operate safely in sub-zero environments, including freezers and refrigerated areas
  • Use forklifts designed or adapted for low-temperature conditions
  • Perform additional safety checks due to cold-related equipment impact (e.g., battery performance, fluids)
  • Drive cautiously on potentially slippery surfaces and maintain safe speeds
  • Wear required cold-weather personal protective equipment (PPE), including insulated gear and non-slip footwear
  • Follow time and break guidelines to prevent cold exposure risks
