About The Position

This position is responsible for operating yard equipment, including forklifts and various other equipment safely and efficiently. The role involves expediting the loading and unloading of customer and company vehicles, counting and reconciling incoming and outgoing materials, and completing necessary paperwork. The Forklift Operator will also maintain the yard and equipment in a safe and clean manner, develop a working knowledge of all inventoried products, and participate in yard security functions at the end of the shift. Additionally, the role requires adherence to safety rules, participation in the 5S program, and regular attendance, including some Saturday shifts.

Requirements

High School education or equivalent.
Must have basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
Must be able to write, read and understand basic instructions.
Basic mathematical skills required; counting, addition/subtraction, multiplication.
Regular attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of 1-year Forklift experience preferred, but not required.
Prior experience in the distribution center industry preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Acknowledge and assist all customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
Operate yard equipment, including forklifts and various other equipment safely and efficiently.
Expedite the loading and unloading of customer and company vehicles.
Count and reconcile incoming and outgoing materials (inventory).
Complete and return paperwork (delivery notes, yard receivers, etc.) as soon as possible.
Record discrepancies and/or damaged material on driver’s paperwork which is signed by the driver.
Complete yard receiver at the time material is unloaded and verified. Count and offload materials before signing paperwork.
Verify that daily check sheets are completed on assigned yard equipment.
Stack building materials and maintain yard and assigned yard equipment in a safe and clean manner.
Develop a working knowledge of all products inventoried.
Perform yard security functions at the end of shift, ensure equipment is stored in designated areas, lock vehicles and remove keys. Make sure gates and warehouses are locked.
Participate in and follow the 5S program to expected levels.
Attend safety meetings and abide by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensure that hazardous and unsafe conditions are reported and corrected.
Regular attendance is required, including some Saturday shifts.
