About The Position

The Warehouse Forklift Operator is responsible for transporting incoming freight from staging areas to designated inventory storage locations and replenishing pick slots to support daily operations. This role ensures all safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and quality requirements are followed while maintaining an efficient flow of products throughout the warehouse. The employee works as a team member within the department and performs additional duties as assigned to support company objectives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required
  • 6 to 12 months of warehouse experience
  • Completion of forklift and/or power jack training with certification
  • Ability to safely operate forklifts, power jacks, and warehouse equipment
  • Basic computer and RF scanner proficiency
  • Strong attention to detail and inventory accuracy
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and GMP standards
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Frequent bending and twisting
  • Prolonged standing and sitting
  • Ability to lift materials as required by warehouse operations

Nice To Haves

  • 1 to 2 years of warehouse experience
  • Experience operating a forklift within a food service or distribution environment
  • OSHA Forklift Operator Certification

Responsibilities

  • Review work schedules, perform equipment safety inspections, obtain necessary supplies, and prepare for daily operations.
  • Locate, verify, and transport incoming freight from staging areas to appropriate storage locations using a forklift, hi-lift, or power jack.
  • Inspect products for damage and conduct temperature and quality checks, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Store inventory in designated warehouse locations and accurately record product information and storage locations using RF scanners or handheld devices.
  • Replenish pick slots with outgoing inventory according to upcoming work orders.
  • Rotate date-sensitive inventory using FIFO practices and remove outdated products according to company policy.
  • Relocate overstock inventory to available storage locations as needed.
  • Remove and properly dispose of empty pallets, cardboard, packaging materials, and strapping.
  • Inspect, stack, and transport pallets to designated storage areas using a pallet jack or forklift.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area by performing general housekeeping duties.
  • Exchange discharged batteries for charged batteries and complete vehicle inspection checklists.
  • Secure all equipment and complete required documentation at the end of each shift.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
