About The Position

The Forklift Operator, also known as a Long Jack Driver, is responsible for transporting finished goods pallets, raw materials, and work-in-progress (WIP) within the plant and to designated areas. This role involves operating powered trucks, conducting inspections, managing inventory, and maintaining sanitation standards. The position requires adherence to safety guidelines, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and willingness to perform cross-training and additional tasks as needed. The operator will work in a production environment with varying temperatures and must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Requirements

  • Current or previous forklift license and experience operating industrial trucks.
  • Climbs ladder to sifter platforms.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of SQF & SAP.
  • Experience in using sanitation chemicals.
  • Practice good safety habits and have a good safety record.
  • Practice good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
  • Maintain good attendance.
  • Practice good housekeeping at all times.
  • Able to work with support groups to ensure lines are ready on time and minimize downtime.
  • Willing to know product specifications and how to maintain correct specifications and line speeds.
  • Willing to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Willing to be flexible.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Willing to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Willing to work in a production environment requiring high visibility vest, safety glasses, hair/beard net, hearing protection, and rubber boots with safety toe.
  • Willing to climb up and down stairs to enter/exit the production area.
  • Walks over boot scrubbers prior to entering work areas.
  • Willing to withstand cold and hot environments.
  • Willing to work 8-12 hour shifts - standing.

Nice To Haves

  • Spotter experience a plus but not necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Transport finished good pallets to Americold and scan LP's using RFSmart scan gun.
  • Bring WIP to production lines and fruit to the warehouse.
  • Conduct all SQF required inspections.
  • Transport raw materials to production lines and other plant areas.
  • Responsible for stock rotation, physical inventory, and cycle counts.
  • Responsible for daily warehouse sanitation tasks and basic GMP's.
  • Operate powered trucks following safety guidelines.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed, including cross-training on other machines or in other areas.
  • Sweep and clean area during and after shift.
