About The Position

National Vision is seeking a Forklift Operator to join their Distribution Center team. This role involves receiving, unpacking, and storing merchandise, often utilizing a forklift. The operator will also fulfill store requisitions by pulling orders, assorting them, and preparing them for shipment. The position requires processing daily replenishments and customer orders, operating forklifts and pallet jacks, and unloading/loading freight trucks. Key tasks include placing picked orders, receiving orders into inventory, unpacking and verifying purchase orders, organizing cross-docking, moving products from overstock, packing and shipping products, and processing returns. The role also emphasizes maintaining quality service, a safe and clean work environment, and adherence to organizational standards.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Forklift certification required.
  • Warehouse and inventory control experience required.
  • Math abilities.
  • Experience with handtrucks and pallet jacks.
  • Organized and detail oriented even in a fast pace environment.
  • Able to work independently with in a set of guidelines.
  • Dependable, with strong work ethic and personal integrity.
  • Continual walking and standing, bending, kneeling, twisting at the waist.
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds, occasionally up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long 6-8 hours at a time.
  • Availability to work Saturdays.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (Excel) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Processes daily replenishments and customer orders using an RF scanner or manually.
  • Operates forklift and pallet jacks.
  • Unloads and loads freight trucks.
  • Places picked orders in bags or boxes depending on size, scans items to take them out of inventory and moves orders to the delivery area so they can be sorted by store and shipped.
  • Receives orders into inventory by using an RF scanner or manually.
  • Prints purchase order then unpacks received boxes. After items are unpacked, verifies counts to PO and packing slip and then moves items into primary locations or overstock areas.
  • Organizes the cross docking of shipments ensuring they are sorted correctly and properly taken in and out of the inventory system.
  • Processes and moves products out of overstock area into the primary stock area while ensuring the inventory movement is made in the system.
  • Fills boxes with items requested by the store. Packs, crates, and ships products and supplies to retail locations.
  • Processes returns by presorting items, scanning them back into inventory and crediting the store inventory, relabeling products, verifying all SKUs are correct and putting the items back into primary stock.
  • Maintains quality service by following organizational standards.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
