Forklift Operator
About The Position
Operate an industrial forklift to perform material-handling assignments, transporting material to and from storage areas and the loading dock. Use a forklift or high-lift to lower stock from higher-level reserve slots to ground-level pick slots for selection, and to place received stock in higher-level storage slots, using safe operating practices. This role supports warehouse operations across night and day shifts. The Forklift Operator transports pallet loads from the dock to the correct warehouse slot, replenishes pick slots from reserve slots, performs equipment and safety checks, records product, equipment, and warehouse damage, and keeps aisles clean. The position is based in Marrero, Louisiana. The posting lists Monday through Friday in one schedule section and Sunday through Thursday with a 6 p.m. start time in another. It states a guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week and that paid training and overtime are available.
Requirements
- Able to read and write legibly.
- Basic mathematical skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Able to understand Voxware commands.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Job-related certification for Material Handling Equipment.
- Prior Selector experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Operate an industrial forklift or high-lift to move material between storage areas and the loading dock.
- Transport pallet loads from the dock to the correct warehouse slots and ensure pallets are secure to prevent damage or injury.
- Lower stock from higher-level reserve slots to ground-level pick slots for selection.
- Replenish pick slots from reserve slots to maintain inventory levels for night-shift selection.
- Place received stock in higher-level storage slots.
- Perform operational and safety checks, including checks of the battery, brakes, lift controls, and fire extinguisher.
- Record product, equipment, and warehouse damage.
- Keep aisles clean by removing debris from floors and racks.
