About The Position

The Forklift Operator safely operates forklifts to move and manage inventory while maintaining accurate counts. The role oversees daily shipping and receiving operations, including processing inbound and outbound shipments and ensuring efficient material flow. This is a general description of major duties and responsibilities performed on a required and continuous basis; other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• Ability to assist in directing the activities of employees within the department.
• Ability to work as a team player and develop and maintain a team environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic using whole numbers in all units of measure.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively to departmental employees.
• Working knowledge of basic computer skills.
• Forklift-driving ability and certification.
• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist forklift drivers.
• Operate a forklift safely.
• Handle inventory counts.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Schedule trucks for incoming and outgoing shipments.
• Print pick lists and bills of lading (BOLs).
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse.
• Monitor the warehouse.
• Receive material in the system.
• Lock and unlock the warehouse at the beginning and end of the shift.
