About The Position

This position involves operating a manually controlled gasoline, electric, or liquid propane gas-powered forklift to transport goods and materials within a warehouse. The role requires adherence to all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment. Responsibilities include performing daily equipment checks, unloading materials, stacking goods, identifying damages, and maintaining a clean workspace. The position may involve alternating between outdoor and indoor environments and requires the ability to operate various tools and equipment approved by management. A CAC may be required for system access, and US Citizenship is necessary for facility credentials.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • Twelve months job related experience and/or training is required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to operate a government general-purpose vehicle.
  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • This position requires the candidate to pass a pre-employment physical examination and urinary analysis.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Must possess planning/or organizing skills.
  • Must be able to work under deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Moving goods packed on pallets or in crates around the storage facility, according to storage requirements, shelf-life regulations, and staging procedures.
  • Stacking goods in the correct storage bays, following inventory control instructions.
  • Ensuring loads are properly secure, including performing material handling procedures to correctly stack, palletize, ship, and move material.
  • Stacking and storage of empty pallets, crates, etc.
  • Performing daily equipment checks such as recharging the truck’s battery and lubricating equipment.
  • Unloading materials and merchandise from incoming vehicles and stacking them to assigned places.
  • Disposal of waste materials/recyclables through the use and movement of machine hoppers, roll-offs, and other required equipment.
  • Locate and move stock of products to pallets or crates for storage or shipment.
  • Identify damages and report shortages or quality deficiencies.
  • Perform a variety of warehousing duties that require an understanding of the establishment’s storage plan.
  • Rearrange and take inventory of stored materials, examines stored materials and reports deterioration and damage.
  • Removes material from storage and prepares it for shipment.
  • Operate tools and equipment in performance of duties as approved per management.
  • Conducts assigned portions of inventories.
  • Uses bar code wands, labeling equipment, laser scanning equipment, and/or computer terminals.

  • Observes and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
  • Performs all housekeeping and maintenance duties as needed to ensure workspace upkeep.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned, requested, or related, unless otherwise excluded by this description or the established collective bargaining agreement.
