About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for safely operating forklifts and other material-handling equipment to support various warehouse and production operations. This role involves loading and unloading materials, transporting goods, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring a safe and organized work environment. The position requires a commitment to safety, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team and independently.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to successfully complete company forklift training and certification requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to working safely and following established procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Strong reading, basic mathematical, and comprehension skills.
  • Ability to accurately use RF scanners and other electronic material-tracking systems.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work outdoors and safely perform job responsibilities in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability and willingness to work a rotating 2-2-3 schedule, including 12-hour shifts, and adjust to changing business needs.
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality are essential to the successful performance of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a strong commitment to zero-harm and comply with all company safety, health, environmental, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Safely operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
  • Complete required equipment inspections before operating forklifts and report any safety concerns, damage, or equipment issues immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, including proper storage and staging of finished goods and materials.
  • Follow all established traffic patterns, pedestrian safety requirements, PPE requirements, and material-handling procedures.
  • Safely and efficiently operate forklifts to load finished goods and materials onto outbound trucks.
  • Pull and stage inventory accurately according to pick tickets, shipment requirements, and established storage locations.
  • Transport finished goods between production areas, staging areas, indoor storage, and outdoor storage yards.
  • Verify product, quantity, condition, and shipment information prior to loading.
  • Inspect finished goods, dunnage boards, pallets, and other shipping materials for damage and replace or report materials as necessary.
  • Secure and position product appropriately for safe transportation and loading.
  • Assist with tarping and securing outbound shipments as required.
  • Perform rework or product preparation activities as needed to ensure units meet shipping requirements.
  • Use RF scanners to accurately scan, track, and record inventory movements and locations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory locations within the warehouse, staging areas, annex, and storage yard.
  • Manually record order numbers and inventory locations on required shipping and pick documentation.
  • Review pick tickets for accuracy and completeness and promptly communicate discrepancies.
  • Submit completed pick tickets and required documentation to the Shipping Office.
  • Identify and communicate inventory, product, equipment, or shipping issues that could impact production or customer deliveries.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support overall site performance.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership regarding safety concerns, inventory discrepancies, equipment issues, and shipping priorities.
  • Prioritize work effectively and adjust to changing production and shipping demands.
  • Demonstrate company values through professional conduct, accountability, teamwork, and a commitment to operational excellence.
