About The Position

This job is in the Plant family (Department), which includes positions responsible for supervising or performing work metals processing and distribution work within the Reliance family of companies. Work includes specialized equipment operation and/or supporting functions and requires a practical knowledge of the nature and operations and the materials, facilities and methods employed by Reliance companies in metals processing and distribution for first shift hours 6:00 am- 2:30 pm.

Requirements

2-5 years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
High School diploma/GED preferred.
Must be able to obtain a certification to operate all required motorized material handling and rigging equipment.
Must possess a Valid Drivers License.
Warehousing and material handling experience preferred.
Ability to show adequate manual dexterity, finger dexterity, arm-hand steadiness, and multi-limb coordination required.
Ability to read and comprehend written instructions as applied to work situations required.
Basic measurement skills, including taking, converting, and/or using measurements of length, width, height, and weight to perform basic math computations correctly required.
Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively required.
Ability to make sound decisions based on a combination of factors including knowledge, experience, and judgment required.
Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with supervisors and co-workers required.

Responsibilities

Locating, retrieving, and/or returning material to designated areas using motorized material handling equipment such as forklifts- Hyster
Performing and documenting daily pre-use forklift inspections (brakes, forks, hydraulics, horn, lights, tires, etc.).
Operating equipment safely in a high-traffic yard environment, maintaining awareness of pedestrians, trucks, cranes, and other equipment.
Communicating clearly with crane operators, truck drivers, and ground personnel using hand signals, radios, or verbal communication.
Confirming load stability and clear path prior to movement.
Handling material in a manner that prevents damage, bending, or contamination, especially for customer-critical or processed material.
Reporting any damaged or non-conforming material immediately.
Positioning work pieces to be processed securely on a variety of machines using a forklift.
Pulling and assembling orders based on reviewing work/shipping orders or other documentation.
Tagging material for proper identification and completing all required documentation.
Moving material from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
Operating a yard truck for the purpose of loading and unloading trailers.
Maintaining work area in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
Sorting and placing material on rack, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, type, or product code.
Spot checking on inventory, completing daily and/or ad hoc checks for proper tagging of material, as directed.
Reporting any irregularities to supervisor for direction.
Restocking material.
Occasionally driving motor vehicle (non-DOT truck) for local deliveries and parts pick-ups.
Adhering to/ensuring compliance with applicable safety and quality standards.
Performing all other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
