About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for various tasks related to material handling and maintaining a safe work environment. This role involves operating heavy equipment, performing daily inspections, transporting vehicles, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations. The position requires the ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing conditions.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple competing tasks and priorities.
  • Perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Use proper safety equipment and safety procedures.
  • Must attend retraining classes annually that meet company standards and expectations.
  • Must successfully complete the Chemical Hazards Training program.
  • Able to sit for 6-8 hours per day in two hour intervals.
  • Manual dexterity to handle tools.
  • Ability to move 50 pounds regularly.
  • Sufficient vision to perform job functions.
  • Good eye-hand coordination and good motor skills.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older (U.S. applicants) or 16 years of age or older (Canada applicants).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience in the Auto Dismantling Industry.
  • Prior experience in operating a Loader or similar equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Multi-task to ensure job production flows throughout the store and production area.
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times.
  • Carry out verbal and written tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Perform daily inspections on the loader.
  • Stage vehicles, including transporting them to and from the staging area.
  • Transport vehicles to and from the drain shop.
  • Check fluids twice daily to ensure proper operation.
  • Operate a forklift or skid steer while observing all safety regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe production/store environment for employees and customers.
  • Ensure an environmentally safe environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
