About The Position

The Forklift Operator operates powered industrial trucks to load and unload materials and deliveries, and to move materials between storage areas, machines, loading docks, trucks, and storage facilities. The role is responsible for safe forklift operation and care, supplying appropriate stock to machines on time, following the daily production schedule, and completing required paperwork and reports accurately. The operator must maintain a current forklift license and use warehouse scanners. The position has no supervisory responsibilities. Duties may change or expand as business needs require.

Requirements

• Three years of forklift experience.
• Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
• Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that supports efficient operation.
• Working knowledge of layouts, production specifications, and product quality specifications.
• Excellent team-building and interpersonal skills.
• High degree of attention to prevent injury to others and promote a safe work environment.
• Ability to use warehouse scanners.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current forklift license.

Nice To Haves

• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate and care for a forklift safely, and be qualified to operate it properly.
• Complete and document a forklift inspection before the start of each shift and when operating a different forklift; submit maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
• Locate stock before the start of a run.
• Follow the daily production schedule and recommend ways to optimize it to meet cost, quality, delivery, and service goals.
• Deliver appropriate stock to machines safely and on time.
• Complete required paperwork and reports accurately and promptly, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data.
• Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
• Maintain a current forklift license.
