About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts and other Material Handling Equipment (MHE) in support of Army equipment turn-in operations. This role includes loading, unloading, staging, and moving Army property, repair parts, and materiel while maintaining compliance with Army supply regulations, OSHA standards, and contract requirements. The operator directly supports the property accountability mission by ensuring accurate handling and placement of equipment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC)
  • Must be able to obtain Tier1/ NACI (Public Trust) background eligibility.
  • Must be proficient in the English language (reading and writing).
  • Must be able to travel within the United States as required (travel will be up to 75% of the time)
  • Must receive a favorable background check and drug testing results.
  • Must have a Real ID.
  • Valid state driver’s license required.
  • OSHA 10 Hour Training Certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • MHE operating experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting supply, warehousing, or turn-in operations desirable. (Military or Government contracting preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts (2K–20K, rough-terrain, and warehouse models) to move vehicles, repair parts, pallets, containers, and Class IX supplies.
  • Support unit turn-ins by staging and transporting equipment between receiving, inspection, and warehouse/storage areas.
  • Assist with mass turn-in operations, ensuring cargo is processed quickly and efficiently.
  • Load/unload trucks, trailers, and containers in compliance with Army and DOT securement standards.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) before, during, and after forklift operations.
  • Adhere to OSHA, Army, and company safety procedures during all lifting and handling operations.
  • Safely handle sensitive, hazardous, and heavy materiel in accordance with environmental and Army standards.
  • Report any accidents, incidents, or equipment deficiencies immediately.
  • Assist supply technicians in verifying turn-in documentation (DA Form 1348-1A, DD Form 200, etc.) against items being moved.
  • Update handling logs and records in support of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirements.
  • Support audits and inspections by ensuring equipment is staged and accounted for properly.
  • Work closely with Supply Technicians, Warehouse Specialists, Material Coordinators, and Truck Drivers to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Support staging and loading operations for outbound shipments.
  • Communicate task completion and equipment updates to supervisors.
