About The Position

This role is for a Heavy Forklift Operator in a steel fabrication operation. The ideal candidate will have leadership skills and a passion for logistics and organization. You will help team members with manual duties and contribute to safe and efficient operations. Responsibilities include moving large steel beams onto and off trucks, and loading flatbeds with steel structures.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Two years experience in distribution environment
Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds
Good or corrected vision
Ability to add and subtract
Ability to communicate and interact effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds
Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms, or other related documents
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner

Nice To Haves

Two years of industry-related experience preferred
May require forklift certification

Responsibilities

Serve as the lead to distribute work assignments and daily activities to team members.
Promote safe work practices.
Follow and ensure quality standards are adhered to.
Post the performance numbers for area.
Fork operation.
Oversee loading and unloading of products.
Manage material organization by moving materials and items from receiving or production areas to storage or to other designated areas.
Coordinate receipt, storage and distribution of materials, tools equipment, and products within assigned area.
Comply with legal procedures for handling and receiving goods.
Ensure the proper labeling, tagging, and packing of goods and materials in the assigned area.
Assemble customer orders from stock and place orders on pallets/racks, move orders to packing station or shipping department.
Opens bales, crates, and other containers.
Assist in receiving cargo by removing it from the truck by hand or using manual equipment.
Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or loading area according to predetermined sequence, job name and shipping dates.
