Forklift Operator
About The Position
XPO is hiring a Forklift Operator to sort, handle, load and unload freight in a dock environment. The role uses motorized and manual equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, and mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments. Operators secure freight inside trailers and follow company safety policies while working efficiently. The dock is not climate-controlled, and work may involve extended periods in those conditions. The position requires availability for a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends, due to changing freight volumes. Compensation is expected to range from $23.43 to $28.81 per hour, with annual step progression; actual compensation may vary based on experience and skill set. Full health insurance benefits are available on day one. XPO also describes the position as a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be able to perform basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
- Be available to work a variety of shifts, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
- Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 70 pounds.
- Walk and stand safely for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
- Reach, including overhead; bend; climb; push; pull; twist; squat; and kneel as necessary.
Nice To Haves
- Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry.
- Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.
- Experience loading and unloading trailers.
- Strong attention to detail and a desire to succeed.
