About The Position

This role is responsible for fulfilling customer orders, stacking, wrapping, collecting damaged product, labeling, loading outbound, and unloading inbound trailers, and all other activities as they pertain to the warehousing and fulfilling of customer orders. Team members are expected to act in accordance with the shared Core Values and Operating principles of Southern Champion Tray (SCT), which include being Trustworthy, Servant-Hearted, Relational, and Resourceful. The position also involves maintaining a clean work environment according to the 5S system, assisting in shipping and receiving operations, and fulfilling customer orders using an RF handheld. The operator will stack pallets for stability, load and unload trailers safely, restack fallen pallets, operate material handling equipment, and accurately load trailers according to sequence, products, and weight distribution. Additionally, the role requires inspecting incoming shipments, reporting mechanical issues or safety hazards, maintaining order in shipping and warehouse areas, performing daily forklift checklists and routine maintenance, and adapting to new procedures for efficiency and safety. Downtime is to be utilized for assisting with set-up, housekeeping, or audits. The role may also involve training new or existing employees.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have basic computer skills and possess the ability to utilize software.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand documents, letters, etc. and write legibly in English.
  • Must be able to understand and speak clearly, communicate, and understand directions in English as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfill customer orders, stack, wrap, collect damaged product, label, load outbound, and unload inbound trailers.
  • Maintain a clean work environment including the machine, floors, desks, and fans in accordance with the 5S system.
  • Assist in performing the shipping and receiving operation.
  • Fulfill customer orders with the use of an RF handheld.
  • Stack all shipping pallets to reduce overhang and maximize stability.
  • Load and unload trailers safely in accordance with defined SCT safety policies and procedures.
  • Restack pallets that have fallen in the warehouse and in the transfer process.
  • Operate stand-up forklift or other material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Load the trailer accurately concerning proper sequence, products, and weight distribution as directed.
  • Unload all deliveries or shipments from outside vendors, inspect quality, quantity, and condition of all shipments, and record paperwork.
  • Report any mechanical problems with equipment or any safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Maintain order in the shipping dock and warehouse areas.
  • Perform daily forklift checklist and routine maintenance on equipment including cleaning equipment with an air hose.
  • Adjust to and follow new procedures and innovations, which would add to the efficiency and safety of the operation.
  • Effectively utilizes downtime by assisting with set-up or performing other tasks associated with maintaining a clean work environment or as otherwise instructed by a supervisor.
  • May be required to train new or existing employees in adherence to SCT safety and company polices.
  • Routine housekeeping to be performed daily in adherence to company policy and warehouse needs.
