Forklift Operator
About The Position
We are seeking a skilled high-reach forklift operator with experience in frozen environments to join our South Carolina team. The ideal candidate will be proficient in operating high-reach forklifts, understand the challenges of cold environments, and possess a keen eye for detail to ensure accurate handling and storage of products. Safety is a top priority, and the employee must strictly adhere to all safety protocols and procedures. This role requires a combination of experience, attention to detail, safety consciousness, adaptability, teamwork, efficiency, and reliability to contribute to the success of the shipping department.
Requirements
- Minimum of 1-year experience operating a high-reach forklift (not to be confused with a cherry picker), preferably in a cold environment.
- Ability to work in cold temperatures and physically demanding conditions for extended periods.
- Excellent perception of space and hand-eye coordination.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Flexibility to work varying shifts and overtime as needed.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures for operating forklifts in frozen environments.
- Regular physical activity, such as reaching, bending, twisting, squatting, lifting up to 50 lbs, and walking/standing within and around the site for a minimum of 8-12 hours daily.
Responsibilities
- Operate high-reach forklifts to safely and efficiently move pallets of frozen products in the shipping department.
- Retrieve and stack pallets in high locations using the forklift's extended reach capabilities.
- Adhere to all safety procedures and protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe operation of forklift equipment in frozen environments.
- Perform routine inspections to ensure proper functioning.
- Collaborate with warehouse team members to optimize workflow and ensure timely order fulfillment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in shipping areas and storage freezers.
- Follow all company policies and procedures related to forklift operation and workplace safety.
