About The Position

Great Southern Wood Preserving is seeking a self-starting, motivated, energetic team player for a Forklift Operator position in Lake Panasoffkee. This career-focused role operates an industrial forklift to move, lift, stack, and transport products, equipment, and materials. Candidates must have previous warehouse and forklift experience. A high school diploma or GED is required; lumber experience is a plus. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

• Previous warehouse and forklift experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to communicate effectively and command the English language.
• Ability to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
• Ability to get on and off the lift and restack lumber.
• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Required vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

• Lumber experience.

Responsibilities

• Unload and stack material on and off commercial flatbed trailers using an industrial forklift.
• Operate a scan gun to track inventory movements.
• Keep materials stacked evenly, safely, and in an organized manner.
• Identify the different sizes and treatments of lumber manufactured at the plant.
• Respond to customer and plant needs by safely and efficiently loading and unloading trucks.
• Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, and use work time efficiently.
• Keep product organized in all warehouses.
• Help pick up lumber and other materials after spills.
• Assist with housekeeping and cleanup as needed.
• Meet productivity standards, complete work promptly, and strive to increase productivity.
• Read and interpret written information and communicate effectively with supervisors and employees as needed.
• Contribute to a positive team environment and treat others respectfully and considerately.
• Report potentially unsafe conditions and use equipment and materials properly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
