About The Position

This role is responsible for operating forklifts in a bakery plant receiving environment, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The position involves tasks such as waste removal, battery changes, operating shrink wrappers, inventory management, and transporting supplies. The operator will also be responsible for recording truck temperatures, documenting loose cases, monitoring conveyor systems, and verifying inbound truck information. Communication with leads and working overtime to meet schedules are key aspects of the job.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a production, manufacturing or distribution environment for 3+ months
  • Experience operating a sit down and standup double reach forklifts
  • Sit, stand, walk and climb stairs during time on duty
  • Operate a standup double-reach forklift truck to pick and put away products in the refrigerated warehouse.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift truck to transport materials and product to and from storage
  • Pick products from inventory and place on pallets for relocation
  • Count cases of finished product and pallets
  • Record warehouse inventory data on forms

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience working in a food processing or packaging environment
  • Experience work in a USDA, FDA, OSHA, or GMP compliant environment

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate behaviors to support company safety procedures with focus on zero injuries.
  • Show behaviors to support quality work processes.
  • Follow and comply with all Safe Quality Food (SQF) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s).
  • Pick up and remove waste from production line floors and containers. Push waste carts to dumpster area.
  • Change out forklift batteries to operate.
  • Operate shrink wrapper and install a new roll of shrink wrap film.
  • Operate inventory control devices.
  • Maintain cleanliness in all work areas and equipment.
  • Pick full and partial pallets to load and unload trucks and move inventory into/out of warehouse.
  • Transport supplies to production.
  • Record the truck set temperatures for every trailer.
  • Manually document the SKU and number for any loose cases.
  • Monitor the conveyor system.
  • Verify code date and case count off an inbound truck and loose cases.
  • Communicate to the Coordinator or the Team Lead or operation issues.
  • Work overtime to achieve production and shipping schedules.
