About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for moving packaging and additive materials to the packaging and production floor, moving finished goods from the packaging floor to the warehouse, picking, staging and shipping out-bound loads, preparing shipping documents and loading and unloading in-bound and out-bound shipments. This position shares responsibility for maintaining Pasta Montana’s food safety, quality and legality program under the BRC guidelines. Pasta Montana employees are expected to maintain a positive work atmosphere through communication and behaving in a manner that is courteous and respectful to all customers, vendors, contractors, co-workers, leads and management.

Requirements

  • Must have a current driver’s license and be able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to complete and pass an in-house qualification course for operating a forklift.
  • Ability to use computer automated systems and software.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
  • Must be able to work an extended shift.
  • Must be able to work all shifts.
  • Must be able to climb ladders, operate man lifts; work around running equipment and in high places.
  • Must be able to distinguish color and odor.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior warehouse, forklift, manufacturing or commercial work experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of plant production and warehouse environment a plus.
  • Good mathematical and analytical skills as well as ability to work in cooperation with others.
  • Understanding safety standards.
  • Able to identify deficiencies and assist in correcting them.
  • Ability to function as a motivated team member in a highly dynamic environment.
  • Able to work and communicate effectively in a team setting.
  • Able to learn, to troubleshoot and to multi-task.

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Must complete an in-house forklift safety course and maintain a Forklift Operators Certification.
  • Must complete a daily forklift operations checklist.
  • Must be able to operate a forklift correctly, safely and in accordance with all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
  • Picks and stages customer orders.
  • Loads and unloads in-bound and out-bound trailers.
  • Communicate effectively with personnel in all departments, especially with Packaging and Production, to ensure material levels are sustained on all production lines.
  • Replaces broken and substandard wood and plastic pallets and disposes of non-conforming pallets.
  • Maintains good housekeeping principles at all times and maintains an organized, neat warehouse and end of packaging line area.
  • Must be able to retain and recall product and material item numbers and warehouse locations.
  • Ensure all finished goods materials are in the inventory system and that each lot number is assigned to the correct bin location.
  • Ensures aisles and dock lanes are clear of equipment and product to allow for safe forklift operations.
  • Must be able to move material and equipment to and from the offsite warehouse in a safe, efficient and timely manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Packaging Lead and Packaging Manager.
