About The Position

The Forklift Operator I moves materials between inventory and production, supplying production departments according to the production schedule and returning finished goods to inventory. The role maintains required paperwork and production records, supports production needs, and helps keep material and finished-goods storage areas organized and clean. The operator also follows company forklift policies and participates in safety, continuous improvement, and other programs and meetings.

Requirements

• At least a 9th-grade basic education.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Successfully complete the Forklift Driver licensing process.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED (preferred, but not required).
• Forklift driving experience (preferred; no minimum experience is required).
• Working knowledge of basic math and inventory techniques (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Move material in process from one station to another when necessary.
• Band, wrap, and/or pack finished goods and label material.
• Move finished goods from the production area to the finished-goods inventory yard or warehouse.
• Assist production with bottlenecks and other material needs.
• Provide general preventive maintenance on equipment.
• Complete the pre-shift equipment startup checklist and report problems or concerns.
• Keep the rough-material and finished-goods inventory yard organized and clean.
• Complete production records as required.
• Follow forklift rules and policies described in company policy.
• Participate in safety, continuous improvement, and other programs and meetings.
• Perform other duties as required.
