About The Position

The Forklift Operator / Bander is responsible for safely operating forklifts while also performing banding duties to support efficient coil processing and material flow. This role requires hands-on experience with forklift operation and banding equipment, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to workplace safety. The Forklift Operator / Bander will load, unload, stage, band, and track materials to ensure accurate inventory control and timely shipments.

Requirements

  • Proven experience operating forklifts in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Strong knowledge of safe material handling and banding procedures.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, and handle heavy materials throughout the shift.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior bander or coil banding experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate forklifts to load, unload, transport, and stage coils and materials for production and shipment.
  • Proactively pull coils and materials according to shipping and production schedules.
  • Transport materials to designated storage or processing areas within the facility.
  • Stack and organize materials securely to prevent damage and ensure efficient space usage.
  • Band coils and materials according to specifications to ensure safe handling, storage, and shipment.
  • Inspect banding materials and equipment before use to verify proper function and safety.
  • Ensure banding is applied correctly to prevent shifting, damage, or safety hazards.
  • Accurately record coil and material movements using scanners, tablets, or ERP systems.
  • Identify, tag, and report damaged or non-conforming materials to a supervisor.
  • Assist with bi-annual plant inventories and cycle counts as required.
  • Perform pre-operational forklift inspections and immediately report maintenance or safety concerns.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and material-handling procedures.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Participate in safety training, shift meetings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized warehouse through routine housekeeping activities.
  • Work closely with warehouse staff, production teams, and supervisors to support smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively regarding material shortages, delays, or safety issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations.
