About The Position

Forklift Operator and Yard Truck position at MainOcean, a family-run logistics and transport company with over 100 years of combined expertise. MainOcean provides innovative supply chain solutions through an integrated network of warehouses, ports, and transportation services. This role is key to supporting smooth warehouse operations by performing a wide range of functions including safe and efficient operation of forklifts, inventory management, order picking, material handling, and shipping and receiving. The position also includes responsibilities as a Yard Truck Operator, safely moving trailers to and from dock doors, maintaining organization, cleanliness, and safety of yard and dock areas, and ensuring proper handling of seals and paperwork.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Forklift operator certified with proficient skill in the safe operation of forklift, yard lifts, and yard trucks.
Current valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
1+ year of experience warehouse related experience with a successful track record of safety and accuracy.
Able to read, write, and communicate in verbal and written English fluently.
Able to work with initiative and minimal supervision and is goal oriented.
Computer and tablet literate along with working knowledge of camera use in order to take pictures of cargo.
Strong business math skills.
Able to read, interpret, and apply information from office documents.
Able to effectively communicate regarding completed work and accurately ascertain estimated time to completion of outstanding work.
Able to build strong relationships with intra-company employees and drivers.
Able to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
Excellent attention to detail.
Excellent organizational, task and time management skills.

Responsibilities

Operate various types of forklifts, including reach trucks, clamp trucks, standard forklifts.
Safely load and unload materials from trucks and storage areas according to customer’s requirements.
Transport materials throughout the warehouse using forklifts and other heavy equipment.
Assist with shipping and receiving tasks, including checking inventory and verifying orders.
Collaborate with Warehouse Supervisors to ensure efficient warehouse operations.
Organize customer products by type, lot number, or other required classifications.
Perform routine maintenance checks on forklifts and report any issues or malfunctions.
Operate yard lifts and yard trucks in a safe and efficient manner.
Conduct accurate and timely yard checks at designated times.
Set dock for the following day at the end of each shift in accordance with required prioritization.
Prioritize BTC drivers by communicating prior to arrival, facilitating doubles when possible, and verifying empty containers are clean with doors properly secured.
Proactively notify management of all work not expected to be completed within assigned time expectation so corrective action can be taken.
Accurately complete and submit all required documentation for each load and end-of-day reporting, including but not limited to container activity logs, receiving documents, and photos for export crate deliveries.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area free of OSHA violations, including but not limited to assigned truck and apron area.
Efficiently coordinate traffic in the yard when necessary.
Proactively notify management when company property or equipment needs repair or the condition is deteriorating abnormally.
Develop and build professional relationships with customers.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Support continuous improvement by contributing to the ongoing efforts to improve all experiences with MainOcean.
