The Forklift Operator 1 will operate a propane and/or electric industrial forklift truck to accomplish various material handling assignments within an industrial lubricant manufacturing facility.

Requirements

  • Prior forklift experience
  • Good math, language and reading skills
  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others and promote a safe work environment
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Ability to safely operate the forklift in tight and congested areas
  • Successful completion of Forklift certification per AOCUSA and OSHA standards
  • Basic English proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then with guidance identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, finished goods or equipment to machines, loading docks, and storage areas.
  • Applies general industry understandings of machine loading capacities and/or truck loading schedules, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
  • Utilizes basic understandings to properly apply protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure outgoing loads.
  • Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, strapping and pallet debris to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
  • Follows instructions and adheres to Standard Operating Procedures for operating equipment and keeping records.
  • Seeks and follows guidance from higher-ranking forklift operators for executing efficiencies in material handling duties within the warehouse and production areas.
  • Utilizes an RF scan gun for basic inventory tracking purposes.
  • Reports any problems with materials or transportation to leadership in the department.
  • Consistently performs daily forklift inspections at the start of the scheduled shift.
  • Performs other related duties as requested.
