Requirements
- Prior forklift experience?
- Good math, language and reading skills?
- High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others and promote a safe work environment?
- Efficient time management skills?
- Ability to safely operate the forklift in tight and congested areas?
- Successful completion of Forklift certification per AOCUSA and OSHA standards?
- Basic English proficiency?
Responsibilities
- Obtains production schedule and/or shipping orders and then with guidance identifies, verifies, and transports requested raw materials, finished goods or equipment to machines, loading docks, and storage areas.
- Applies general industry understandings of machine loading capacities and/or truck loading schedules, ensuring prompt and efficient delivery of required items.
- Utilizes basic understandings to properly apply protective materials and strapping equipment to protect and secure outgoing loads.
- Collects and properly disposes of scrap bracing, cardboard, strapping and pallet debris to maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Follows instructions and adheres to Standard Operating Procedures for operating equipment and keeping records.
- Seeks and follows guidance from higher-ranking forklift operators for executing efficiencies in material handling duties within the warehouse and production areas.
- Utilizes an RF scan gun for basic inventory tracking purposes.
- Reports any problems with materials or transportation to leadership in the department.
- Consistently performs daily forklift inspections at the start of the scheduled shift.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
