About The Position

This role involves providing maintenance for MEI's fleet of forklifts, ranging from 6k lb. to Versa Lift 60/80k, as well as Peterbilt and KW tractors and Landoll/KS RGN flatbed trailers. The position requires a mid-level mechanic with experience in diesel vehicles, routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum two (2) years proven fleet mechanic experience (Heavy Equipment and Vehicles)
Minimum of 1 year of intermediate skills working in Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Basic knowledge of operating equipment (Forklifts, man lifts, mobile platform lifts, etc.)

Responsibilities

Perform mid-level mechanic work on diesel vehicles, including routine PM service, brake service, and hydraulic systems.
Determine vehicle condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests, identifying worn and damaged parts.
Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades, controlling corrosion, and completing winterization procedures.
Verify vehicle performance by conducting test drives and adjusting controls and systems.
Maintain vehicle records by annotating services and repairs.
Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for extensive and complex repairs.
Contain costs by using warranty and evaluating service and parts options.
Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
Enhance maintenance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
Complete housekeeping duties in assigned area or project area daily and/or when needed.
