About The Position

Midwest Hose & Specialty is seeking a skilled and dependable Forklift Mechanic to join our team in Oklahoma City. This position is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining forklifts and other material handling equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-focused, and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience repairing forklifts, heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or diesel-powered machinery preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a shop and outdoor environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Toyota, Hyster, Yale, Clark, Mitsubishi, Cat, Nissan, or Crown forklifts.
  • ASE, OEM, or other equipment repair certifications.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and fuel system issues on forklifts and material handling equipment.
  • Perform preventative maintenance according to manufacturer recommendations.
  • Repair and replace engines, transmissions, brakes, steering components, hydraulic systems, masts, and electrical components.
  • Inspect equipment and identify potential safety concerns before failures occur.
  • Troubleshoot propane, gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered forklifts.
  • Complete work orders accurately and maintain service records.
  • Order and manage replacement parts as needed.
  • Operate diagnostic tools and specialized equipment safely and effectively.
  • Ensure all repairs comply with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Communicate equipment status and repair recommendations with supervisors and customers as needed.
  • Occasionally travel to customer locations for on-site service and emergency repairs.
