About The Position

RJW Logistics Group is hiring a Forklift Material Handler for their VAS department. This role is responsible for operating forklifts safely and efficiently, handling all freight inbound or outbound properly, maintaining the warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping, and loading/unloading RJW trucks and trailers. The position ensures all shipments are correctly staged, checked, and loaded properly, and is responsible for storing stock in the warehouse. The Material Handler performs duties to provide material handling services for warehouse shipping and receiving activities, working from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers, while always maintaining forklift safety.

Requirements

1+ years of forklift driving experience in a warehouse using a forklift (reach, walkie rider, sit-down, cherry/order picker).
Good stable work record.
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
Must be able to communicate, read, write, and speak English.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Ability to determine “root cause” of problem and determine corrective action.
Knowledge of Business Operating Systems, Internet software, Word Processing, and Spreadsheet software.
Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to activate phone systems utilizing keyboards and buttons.
Must be articulate and comfortable speaking in front of others.
Regularly works in an indoor/office environment and required to sit and/or use repetitive hand motion.
Frequently required to talk, hear, stand and walk.
Must be able to work more than 8 continuous hours when required.
Must be able to work under stressful situations, have good cognitive skills, maintain work accuracy, and the ability to concentrate on more than one task at a time.
Must have the ability to read and discern visual images on a variety of media with 20/20 corrected vision.
Must be able to speak and communicate clearly over telephones.
Must be in sound physical health as determined by a certified licensed physician with no evidence of the use of controlled substances.

Nice To Haves

Warehousing certifications a plus.
General understanding of computers and handheld RF equipment.
PC skills are helpful.
Major experience forklifts.
Experience in building pallets with stock and breaking down stock to fill independent orders.
Experience in cross docking freight process.
Ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse.
Flexible to work 10 to 12 hours shifts when necessary and not afraid of heights.
Flexibility in working overtime when needed and supplying coverage to other shifts.

Responsibilities

Assists Warehouse Manager to ensure efficient operation of the warehouse.
Ability to operate sit down forklift work.
Loads and unloads RJW truck / trailers safely and efficiently using proper procedures, including outside carriers’ equipment.
Picking and moving stock from 1 lb. to 50 lbs. multiple times.
Ensure all shipments are correctly staged and loaded properly.
Maintains warehouse area with orderly stacking and good housekeeping.
Processing outbound cross-dock freight as necessary.
Oversees storing stock properly in the warehouse and moving product into the storage racks.
Works from warehouse operations sheets using a forklift to pick customer orders and load on trailers.
Records and verifies the accuracy of the shipments against the paperwork for incoming and outgoing shipments / deliveries.
Ensures all documentation and paperwork is properly completed.
Operates forklifts safely and efficiently following all OSHA regulations, RJW safety policies, and procedures.
Completes daily forklift maintenance inspections.
Handles all customer products properly and orderly.
Checks deliveries for poor packing, general condition of materials, and free of damage. Alerts Warehouse Supervisor of any problems, taking pictures if necessary.
Reports all accidents / incidents, to employees, damage of stock, or building damage to the Shift Supervisor immediately.
Spotting of trailers to maintain efficient yard organization and flow of equipment for the day.
Maintains access to dock doors both inside and outside the facility keeping them free of debris or snow.
Other tasks as assigned by manager.
