About The Position

The Forklift Operator is responsible for operating an electric powered industrial forklift to move, locate, relocate, stack, push, pull, tier, and count product and materials. The operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operations of the vehicle in a manner that meets Stratas Foodservice standards for quality, productivity, and accuracy. Includes, but not limited to the following: Must follow GMP’s, safety guidelines, wear PPE and adhere to all safety rules. Processing and assisting with all inbound and/or outbound stocking, picking, and packing as required by the production schedule, as well as performing additional warehouse functions Responsible for ensuring inbound and outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage and reporting on any and all quality variances Candidate must be able to accurately pick, pull, and prepare required products from the warehouse for shipment to meet shipping cutoff times and processing orders according to all regulatory standards Assisting with inventory accuracy on work floor by cross checking products and informing management of any discrepancies and supplying materials to production lines as needed Performs stock alignments as necessary to improve inventory performance and accuracy Efficiently moving product from staging and/or storage areas into rail cars of trailers Keep appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintained Follow all GMP, safety, company policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with all OSHA compliance guidelines Maintain the facility’s equipment and materials in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion Daily inspection of trucks and completion of operational checklists Responsible for recharging batteries Utilize RF scanners for Shipping and Receiving

Requirements

  • Experience operating in a fast paced, ready-to-eat food facility a plus
  • Understanding of basic arithmetic in all units of measure to perform standard operating procedures
  • Ability to read, comprehend, write simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Effective memory skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with the ability to follow instructions
  • Strong multi-tasking skills and great attention to detail with follow through
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Should be honest, respectful, and trustworthy
  • A minimum 2+ years of related experience and/or training in a food manufacturing/foodservice environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Above average endurance and coordination, including hand-eye, hand-foot, and balance.
  • Ability to climb on racking systems up to 15’ above the ground to reach product.
  • Bending is required to reach product or debris, as well as crouching under racking and getting on and off the forklift.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to fingers, reach, stretch, bend, kneel, and/or crouch.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to distinguish color, and peripheral vision.
  • Perception of sound is required.
