About The Position

The Forklift Driver operates a forklift to load and unload trucks and move materials throughout the facility. The role works with the Production Manager to develop a schedule that meets production needs and requires a general understanding of manufacturing processes, quality standards, equipment, operations, safety requirements, and departmental procedures.

The driver loads and unloads trucks by hand, forklift, or pallet jack, maximizing board footage on trailers. The role also involves maintaining load sheets, verifying counts, adjusting shipping documents, placing incoming materials in the proper inventory area, inspecting materials for damage and accurate counts, and reporting discrepancies or damage to a supervisor. The driver maintains appropriate supply inventory and communicates with relevant personnel when replacement products are needed.

The position requires moderate to heavy physical effort throughout the shift, including varied postures and movements and tolerance of temperature changes. Training will be provided in general safety and Quality System Awareness.

Requirements

• Must be able to use simple math.
• Must be able to use basic hand-held measuring tools.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred.
• Prior forklift experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Load or unload trucks by hand, forklift, or pallet jack.
• Load trailers to maximize board footage.
• Maintain load sheets, verify counts, and adjust shipping documents accordingly.
• Unload incoming material and place it in the proper inventory area.
• Inspect incoming material for damage and accurate counts, and notify a supervisor of discrepancies or damage.
• Maintain an appropriate inventory of supplies and communicate with appropriate personnel to order replacement product as needed.
