About The Position

This employee is responsible for operating fork trucks to move pallets and combos of product, as well as to shuttle various supplies into and out of storage. The operation of the forklift, and the opening and closing of loading bay and freight elevator doors to gain access to loads means that this worker has both sitting and standing postures throughout the day.

Requirements

  • At least three months of continuous work history.
  • Occasional bending to raise counter-weighted doors.
  • Shoulder flexion to pull doors back down.
  • Lifting of counter-weighted loading bay doors.
  • Occasionally lift a pallet off a stack from 0” – 72” high and set it onto the floor (pallet weighs up to 33 lbs).
  • Open and close sliding doors from meat storage coolers to the dry dock receiving bay.
  • Open and close sliding doors from the cut floor to the forklift service bay.
  • Reaching up to 25” from the plane of the shoulder.
  • Whole hand grips on lever knobs, steering wheel and door handles.
  • More than 5 minutes of stationary standing at one time is not required.
  • Rare exertions of force are required.
  • Willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Operator finesse is required for pulling combos off pallets.

Responsibilities

  • Operate fork trucks to move pallets and combos of product.
  • Shuttle various supplies into and out of storage.
  • Open and close loading bay and freight elevator doors.
  • Move palletized loads, fork fitted containers, or cardboard combos on plastic sheeting using a forklift with a scissor-armed vise bar.
  • Occasionally hop down to straighten and raise the plastic sheet edge by hand.
