About The Position

The Forklift Driver - Mechanical position at WKW Main Plant in Pell City, AL is responsible for transporting various materials, including raw materials, packaging, carts, racks, and finished goods, to and from work cells or storage areas as directed by the department Team Leader or Supervisor. This role involves working safely, adhering to departmental procedures, and ensuring the correct materials are available for production. The position requires attention to detail, the ability to operate equipment, and contribute to a team environment.

  • Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; squat; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear effectively.
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift.

Responsibilities

  • Transport materials such as raw material, packaging, carts, racks, and finished goods to and from work cells or storage areas.
  • Work in a safe manner, wearing appropriate PPE and reporting any unsafe items or practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to maintain the flow of work within the production area.
  • Follow established processes and departmental procedures.
  • Read and follow a daily production schedule to ensure material availability.
  • Complete daily checklists at the beginning of operations and hourly thereafter.
  • Compare Confirmation Sheets and material tickets to verify correct material usage.
  • Examine materials for part numbers and check for discrepancies like damage or missing labels.
  • Ensure all parts are properly identified with correct labels.
  • Perform layered audits and quality checks as required.
  • Monitor production flow and track good parts, scrap, and rework hourly.
  • Handle scrap and rework parts according to work instructions.
  • Perform material handling functions as required.
  • Operate a pallet jack and forklift.
  • Deliver materials to and from workstations to maintain production.
  • Train new employees when instructed.
  • Write production reports as needed.
  • Adhere to all TS16949 policies and guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment and ensure 5-S adherence.
  • Stop production when quality-related issues are present.
