About The Position

The Forklift Attendant is responsible for the delivery and pickup of freight throughout the site, including moving items from storage areas, ensuring freight is safe and secure for transport, and organizing and maintaining mini MRO storage areas. This role also involves loading and unloading freight from transport trucks, documenting daily equipment checklists, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment. The position requires adherence to all health and safety policies and regulations, including hazard identification and reporting.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Forklift training certificate required.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of related experience, preferable in an Industrial/construction environment.

Responsibilities

  • Delivery and Pickup of freight throughout site
  • Deliver freight from 521 main warehouse to all blocks and areas
  • Pickup freight from all blocks for delivery to 521 main warehouse
  • Coordination of deliveries via radio from one block to another
  • Pickup repaired equipment from 202B and returned to stock replenishment area or to the unit it came from, dictated by packing slip
  • Moving items from storage areas (too large for warehouse) to appropriate locations
  • Ensuring freight is safe and secure for transport, conduct securement as needed, banding, shrink, ratchet straps
  • Stock withdrawal paperwork for Poly railcar, Transport, and Poly wash seals
  • Responding to requests for relocation of erroneous material
  • Execute transport portion of stock pulls for electrical wire and conduit throughout site
  • Organize and maintain mini MRO storage areas (155, 141C)
  • Ensure all off-site items are labeled
  • Work with site marshaller to ensure all items stored in mini MRO locations are updated in SAP
  • Loading and Unloading of freight from transport trucks
  • Unloading and loading freight for main warehouse and unit areas
  • Confirmation of weights for transport when needed
  • Loading empty propane tanks and unloading full tanks at 302 yard
  • Documenting daily checklist
  • Contact maintenance when there are operational issues
  • Ensuring forklift is fueled daily
  • Ensure interior is clean and tidy
  • Sweeping areas clean
  • Garbage removal
  • Maintain clear aisles for forklift and pedestrian traffic
  • Empty cardboard, garbage and metal bins as required
  • Daily FLHA/PTA cards
  • Bi-Weekly safety meeting attendance
  • Weekly hazard ID cards
  • On-time completion of all Dow required courses (Diamond Learning)
  • Read, understand, and follow Vallen's health, safety, and environment policies and all applicable OH&S legislation/regulations
  • Actively participate in Vallen's health and safety management system, including training, audits, assessments, safety meetings, and inspections
  • Identify, control, and report workplace hazards including following WHMIS/TDG requirements and reporting near misses
  • Report workplace injuries immediately and participate in any return-to-work programs or requirements
  • Be fit for duty and physically capable of performing all required tasks
  • Other duties as required.
