About The Position

This role involves operating a forklift to manage raw materials and finished doors within a manufacturing environment. The operator will be responsible for pulling accurate materials from stock, coordinating material flow to various production lines, and ensuring all necessary components are present. The position requires advanced knowledge of schedules, SKU's, material requirements, and forklift safety procedures. The operator will also be responsible for stocking leftover materials and performing physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and twisting. This is a fast-paced role requiring a high degree of concentration, attention to detail, and clear communication with other departments. The work environment is mildly controlled, with potential for cold and heat, and moderate core dust.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of reading/interpreting schedules.
  • Distinguish what can be pulled from stock vs. profile required.
  • Knowledge of material locations.
  • Ability to direct core that requires cutting to the core saw and core requiring profiling to the routers.
  • Forklift knowledge and safety procedures.
  • Core types.
  • Use of tape measures.
  • Forklift operating skills.
  • Ability to maneuver lift truck safely in tight spaces.
  • Ability to recover/return materials to bins.
  • Advanced knowledge of SKU's.
  • Advanced knowledge of material cut requirements.
  • Moderate supervision.
  • Flexibility to coordinate Hot Rush/Remake demands.
  • High degree of concentration and attention to details required consistently.

Nice To Haves

  • Workers will train for approximately 2 weeks in general production areas before starting to drive the forklifts.

Responsibilities

  • Pull accurate materials from main whose/storage trailers.
  • Verify and ensure the core strips required for 7/0 & 8/0 doors are with the core materials brought to the lines.
  • Stock leftover materials/ components.
  • Maneuver lift truck safely in tight spaces and recover/return materials to bins.
  • Coordinate material flow to/off routers, core saw, layup lines.
  • Pull core requirements.
  • Load/unload, lift, move, place, stack raw materials and doors.
  • Navigate throughout plant, including populated and small areas.
  • Perform safety procedures.
  • Read/interpret schedules/tickets.
  • Use measuring tape - to 16th.
  • Coordinate Hot Rush/Remake demands.
  • Verification of correct materials.
  • Constantly getting on/off lift truck to manually lift/slide/flip materials or doors (max. 50 lbs.), bending, lifting, twisting - Picking up materials and disposing as necessary.
  • Communicate constantly and clearly with upstream and downstream departments.
