About The Position

Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking skilled Forging Operators for their 1st shift. The role involves executing production tasks according to process sheets, blueprints, or supervisor instructions, conducting visual inspections of forged parts for quality issues, and maintaining efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment. The operator will also be responsible for maintaining machines and work areas, verifying the accuracy of work against set tolerances, adhering to safety protocols, and assisting other departments as needed.

Requirements

Demonstrates a strong work ethic with a dependable and positive attitude; commitment to working scheduled hours and following all company policies.
Strong mechanical skills.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings (preferred).
Solid math skills, including the ability to accurately use tape measures in both inches and metric measurements.
Basic computer skills: Familiarity with Windows applications to support job functions.
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions in English, with basic oral communication skills to complete simple logs and reports.
Willingness to be trained and a desire to learn and develop skills in a trade.
Ability to handle components up to 50 lbs., including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, as well as standing consistently throughout the shift.
Basic understanding of machining practices and materials (preferred).
Works well within a team setting, with a keen eye for detail to ensure accuracy and quality.

Responsibilities

Follow process sheets, blueprints, or supervisor instructions to complete production tasks accurately.
Conduct visual inspections of forged parts for quality issues such as non-fill, trim burrs, punch marks, and mismatches.
Meet production demands in a fast-paced environment, ensuring smooth workflow and timely task completion.
Maintain machines and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe working condition.
Inspect operations against set tolerances to verify the accuracy of work performed.
Adhere to safety protocols, including wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) throughout the shift.
Assist other departments or areas as needed to ensure overall operational efficiency.
