About The Position

The 2nd shift Forge Supervisor is responsible for the operation of his or her department, utilizing the materials, personnel, machines, money and methods available to produce quality parts in the quantities necessary, in the time specified. The supervisor may delegate areas of authority to his/her assistant/relief as necessary by area or by shift, but total responsibility remains with the department Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Competent in the areas of his/her department and able to provide training to all associates in this area.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in a participative management environment.
  • Aggressive in pursuing a program of continuous improvement in the search of a better way to make a quality product more efficiently.
  • Basic computer skills are required in normal routine daily operations.
  • Ability to prioritize and handle many diverse projects and issues simultaneously.
  • Ability to deal with important issues that can have a significant impact on the long-term success of the Company.
  • Must be organized and deadline oriented.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Constantly be aware of continuous improvement for his/her area.
  • Recommend improvements to increase productivity.
  • Make sure prescribed methods are being utilized.
  • Recommend new jobs to be classified and help in the evaluation of those jobs.
  • Communicate freely with all associates to encourage input for continuous improvement for all areas of production.
  • Effectively utilize all people and supplies in order to affect the greatest savings.
  • Assure all associates are paid properly.
  • Refuse incoming material if it fails to meet Channellock Quality Standards.
  • Meet schedules and keep the flow of material in accordance with MEP.
  • Ensure all experimental runs are tagged and kept separate according to Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Be responsible for the quality of work performed in his or her department.
  • Ensure the best possible utilization of equipment by planning operations and manning the equipment in the department, scheduling set-ups; keeping equipment lubricated and clean; notifying maintenance of needed repair and assisting Maintenance in an active Preventive Maintenance Program.
