About The Position

Volt is immediately hiring for Forge Helper in South Gate, CA. We are seeking a motivated and safety-focused Forge Helper to join a manufacturing team in South Gate, CA. In this role, you will assist forge operators and crew members in the fabrication of forged products by supporting furnace operations, die preparation, equipment setup, material handling, and general production activities. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, eager to learn forging processes, and comfortable working in a physically demanding industrial environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, forging, foundry, machine operation, or industrial experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to complete routine reports and documentation.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percentages, and measurements.
  • Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in standardized production environments.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn forging operations.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
  • Frequent use of hands for handling tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
  • Occasional climbing and balancing.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a loud manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable working around moving mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to work in environments with airborne particles, vibration, and occasional exposure to extreme heat.
  • Must have excellent visual abilities, including close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and color recognition.

Responsibilities

  • Support press and hammer crews during forging operations.
  • Learn the roles and responsibilities of forge crew members and assist as directed.
  • Read and understand shop travelers, operating procedures, production reports, and work instructions.
  • Sweep and clean dies during production operations.
  • Operate furnace controls, including doors, hearths, and furnace cars.
  • Clean, lubricate, and prepare dies for production.
  • Perform scale blower duties and assist with die and trimmer setup.
  • Develop knowledge of forging materials, forging practices, and safe equipment operation.
  • Operate floor manipulators following established safety procedures and training requirements.
  • Set up and utilize impression stamps.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Clean machinery, tools, and production equipment.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, policies, and work instructions.
  • Perform additional routine production and support duties as assigned.
